Can I use RPG or association so I don't have to file taxes?
In most cases the answer is NO. States still require that they collect the appropriate surplus lines tax for the risk in that state.
Isn't there a bill in Congress that is going to make all this go away?
The proposed legislation does not address the remittance of the taxes to individual states. This legislation addresses more licensing concerns than the actual taxes charged by the states. The states still have requirements that regulate business on non admitted basis.
Can I actually do filings on the website?
No. The site provides you with all the information you need to submit your own tax filings. However, we do have a link on the site- available to paid users.
How current is the information?

What is the base premium?
The total premium shown on the policy before fees.
What is the base + fee?
The total premium shown on the policy plus all fees shown on the policy.
What is an affidavit?
An affidavit is a form that is generally state specific and requiring a notarized signature from the insured.
What is a courtesy filing and who can do it?
A courtesy filing is when an agent licensed in a state other than your own who submits the taxes due for a surplus lines policy on your behalf. Any agent with a resident surplus lines license can file taxes for another agent if the state allows courtesy filing.
